WE went to the Kigali Genocide Memorial today. It was very painful to see and hear about everything that happened in the genocide. I kept my composure for the most part, but when we got to the Children’s Room, I broke down and cried. I couldn’t stand to look at all of their photos, and read about their favorite things. It was horrific and heartbreaking. I went to the Peace Room, where I felt comfort after crying. I learned a lot at the memorials today, and my sadness is only a piece of what the survivors feel. I will forever respect the survivors.
